Kim Kardashian Weds!

August 22, 2011 By Michael Russo | Leave a Comment

As many of you may already know, this past Saturday marked the wedding of reality star Kim Kardashian and basketball player Kris Humphries. Details on the star-studded ceremony are few and far between; to get the lowdown on the big day, we’ll all have to tune into the the special that the couple filmed for E!, set to air in October. However, a few things are for certain: first and foremost, the lavish event wasn’t  short on extravagance. The wedding was held in the posh Montecito area in California, and the bride (and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe, who served as so-maids of honor) wore custom ivory Vera Wang. She also wore Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and a diamond-bedecked headpiece. In fact, it has been reported that Wang designed two additional dresses for Kim to wear throughout the reception. The groom, on the other hand, wore a white peak-lapel tuxedo jacket, black tuxedo pants, and a white shirt and bow tie, all by Ermenegildo Zegna. Kim’s stepfather, Bruce Jenner, walked her down the aisle, in front of over 440 guests, including Mario Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, Demi Lovato, Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough, Eva Longoria and Serena Williams. Interestingly, the wedding had a black-and-white dress code (tabloids are reporting that Lindsay Lohan attempted to upstage the bride in a white Temperley gown that Pippa Middleton had previously worn in green to the Royal Wedding earlier this year — scandal!). Finally, in an adorable turn of events, her nephew, Kourtney’s 1 1/2 year-old son Mason, was the ringbearer! While it’s inevitable that more details will undoubtedly be revealed within the coming days and weeks, here are a couple of exclusive pictures (courtesy of E! News) to tide us over until October.

Ryan Haber Collection: Shoes that Tell Your Story

June 16, 2011 By Michael Russo | Leave a Comment

In the realm of shoe designers, there are a select few “Holy Grail” designers that most women can only aspire to claim a pair from, with Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and Brian Atwood chief among them. With all due respect to these design demigods, there is a hot young newcomer who is, fittingly, close on their heels: Ryan Haber. Though he is relatively new to the scene — his first collection is set to debut this fall — many in the industry are positively abuzz over Ryan’s sexy yet chic designs. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Ryan embarked upon several career paths before discovering his passion for footwear, including architecture and interior design; these influences are apparent in his current work, as his shoes are beautifully constructed yet injected with unusual details, from a silver stud-bedecked toe to interesting cutouts. And, of course, each shoe isn’t complete without a vertiginous heel — the adage goes, “The higher the heel, the sexier the shoe,” and Ryan Haber certainly concurs!

Here are some sketches of Ryan’s upcoming creations (courtesy of the Ryan Haber Collection Facebook Page). Keep up with Ryan by following him on Twitter and Facebook…and remember, you heard it here first!

Recommended Reading: Vera Wang’s Rules for Saying “I Do”

Can you feel it? Wedding season is in full tilt! As myriad spring brides are probably scrambling to finalize and perfect every last detail of their nuptials, the genius staff at Women’s Wear Daily brought out the big guns and called upon Vera Wang — go-to wedding gown designer and a true Bridal Idol, if you will — for her Top 10 Wedding Day Dos. This article is full of pearls of wisdom, and is a must-read for any bride. Here are a couple of my favorites:

1. “Feeling comfortable in your appearance is incredibly important. If you feel comfortable with the way you look, you will radiate the most confidence.”

4. “Go easy on the bouquet. Bouquets that are too large or too loud will detract from the dress.”

8. “It is just as important to have black-and-white photography done as it is to have color. Black and white is chic and timeless.”

10. “Savor the moment. There’s a tendency when people get married to rush down the aisle as soon as the ceremony has ended. I’m not sure if it’s relief or what. But you have to remember the guests spend most of the time looking at your back during the service. So much work goes into planning. Take your time when walking back down the aisle. Let them see the dress.”
